FIRST PERSON/OPINION

Via e-mail:

I have to write about the recent motorcycle coverage from Speed Channel. Let me first say that I enjoy the station and I’m glad that we have it. It’s obvious that motorcycle coverage has been better this year that those past. There were no race interruptions for NASCAR TV or anything silly like that. They have used the ticker quickly to notify of any changes and I appreciate the quick notifications. So, all in all, it’s much better in it’s handling of motorcycle programming.

I do however, have to complain about two things. The first is, how could they show the first WSBK race from France and then put the second one on late in the evening. Everyone knew it was coming down to the last race and I really wanted to watch it, especially after seeing the first one! I just don’t understand the programming logic in putting a stock car reunion show on when there should have been championship coverage.

The second thing is AMA coverage from Virginia. Unless the TV schedule has changed, why are they showing the races in the early afternoon when everyone is at work? Wouldn’t it be better for viewers to put it on, say Tuesday evening at six and seven? They could lead right into Two Wheel Tuesday after the races. It just seems that motorcycles get a second seat on Speed to “programs” when most people would much rather see the racing.

Maybe I’m alone in these opinions but I doubt it. OK, I’m done complaining for now. Thanks for letting me rant.
