Straight to the Sachsenring for Repsol Honda Team

Marc Marquez aims to continue Sachsenring perfection as Stefan Bradl steps into the Repsol Honda Team for his home round.

After scoring an important second place finish in Assen, the Repsol Honda Team have already shifted their focus to round nine – the German GP. The 3.7km long circuit is one of reigning champion Marc Marquez’s best tracks on the calendar. Since joining the premier class in 2013, Marquez has converted pole position to victory on each of his six visits to the German track.

With Jorge Lorenzo focusing on recovering from his injuries sustained in Assen, HRC Test Rider Stefan Bradl will join the Repsol Honda Team on the second RC213V. The German rider has already raced once this year, in Jerez where he finished 10th, and has twice finished in the top five at the Sachsenring while riding a Honda in 2012 and 2013.

The Repsol Honda Team continues to wish Jorge Lorenzo a speedy recovery in accomplishing his aim of returning at the Czech GP.

Action at the Sachsenring begins on Friday, July 05 at 09:55 local time with Free Practice 1. Lights go out on the 30 lap MotoGP race at 14:00 local time Sunday, July 07 before the MotoGP World Championship heads into the summer break.

Marc Marquez

“The first back to back race of the season, I am excited. We had a good weekend in Assen and I am motivated as we now arrive at one of my favourites tracks. Of course, past results don’t mean a lot once we start on Friday so we have to keep working hard with the Repsol Honda Team to stay in front. Everyone says I am the favourite because I won in the past few years, but this sport is unpredictable and everyone said the same in Austin and I crashed. Then we will start just thinking about the weekend as every race.”

Stefan Bradl

“I’m very excited to join the Repsol Honda Team in Germany. It’s a special race for me as my home race, obviously I am very sorry for Lorenzo and I wish him the fastest recovery possible and to come back strong. I am glad to be able to help the team and HRC, let’s see what this weekend brings. We have been working well with Honda and I am grateful to them for this opportunity.”
