Dennis Noyes Clarifies How This Saturday’s Superprestigio Dirt Track Event In Barcelona Actually Works

My original post about the Superprestigio Dirt Track event happening in Barcelona, Spain this Saturday was based on a press release from event organizers that talked about there being separate Superprestigio and Open classes without explaining that the top four from each meet in a “Super Final” (as happened last year when American Dirt Tracker Brad Baker won). Sorry for the confusion.

The post is now corrected here:

This just in from Dennis Noyes:

“I am here in Barcelona and helping RPM, the promoters, with the Superprestigio event. Mat Oxley is accredited so I know you will have a source of info. But, just to clarify the way the program works: There are two divisions, Superprestigio, limited to riders who are or have been World Championship road racers in MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 World Superbike or World Supersport and the Open Class for off-road or non-World Championship road racers. Those two divisions run their heats and finales to determine their top four finishers from 24 entrants and the top four of each group meet up in the Superfinal…so (American Dirt Trackers Brad Baker, Jared Mees, Shayna Texter and all the 24 off-roaders will have their shot at the top four from the Superprestigio class, just like last year.)

“At the very last minute we signed Scott Redding.

“There are 10 FIM World Champions in the field this year, including all three current Grand Prix World Champions–Marc Marquez, Tito Rabat and Alex Marquez–and three-time Superbike World Champion Troy Bayliss looks as fit and ready to ride as he was when he won his last SBK title at Portimao in 2008.”
