Round 1 Race report First weekend on the bike for the year, to say I was a bit nervous is an understatement. It doesn't seem to matter how many years I have raced I still get some major butterflies leading into the season. Can I control my bike? Will I be able to feel what the bike is telling me? Have I prepared myself enough physically and mentally? Will i end up on my head? Will I be able to go fast? The first session out of the weekend I mentioned to Ryan Boddy, "this one I am just going to go slow and feel the bike out no rush". For the out lap each corner felt a little better and I felt more and more ease with my bike, restoring that feeling from last year. Each corner adding more speed, more brake force, more lean angle. At the last corner "knockout" a tight left hander leading onto the straight I turned in getting down to my apex where I could feel my elbow grazing the ground.... I'm back. The rest of the weekend was playing with setup and suspension, I wanted to run taller gearing buy it made my wheelbase longer hindering my turning ability. I decided to shorten the chain and wheelbase, turning was restored but I faced a weekend full of setup issues. First day I settled for a setup that wasn't killing my tires but was pumping on entry and exit. Deseret dash 1 was my first race, had a decent start and was battling with Ryan Boddy in the first few corners, I tried to hang it on the outside into "agony", I hung it a bit too wide on entry and ran off... finished the race in 9th. Second race Moto 1 I made a couple small changes to the shock which helped me drop some time and have a good battle with Brad Morris finishing 5th just over .1s behind him. Setting the stage for the next race. Open Superstock is my big race for the weekend, my bike is a stock motor (superbike is modified higher hp amongst other modifications). On lap 2 I was able to take the lead for the race and held it until t1 on the last lap with Brad, I desperately tried to get him back getting very close in a few corners. Top of the attitudes I tried an outside move, Brad was able to close this line off and force me to roll off. Final attempt was on the drag to the line, I tried to get as close as possible and lost the rear at almost full lean angle in "wind up", able to save it I attempted a late apex final turn to get the drive hoping he would go defensive (which he did). Drive was good with some pumping and came very close to reeling him back in .065s close... 2nd place it was! Second day I spent all morning trying every variation of adjustment on my rear to get rid of the pumping to no avail. I was turning clickers right until the end of qualifying, finding a decent compromise. KOM the premier race of the weekend had much excitement. I had a decent start from p9 and was up around 6th. It started drizzling which was not effecting traction but had us all thinking. The next lap I hit a false neutral in faster, braking harder to make the corner my rear slid forcing me
