Denning tackles the Alps for charity
Voltcom Crescent Suzuki Team Manager Paul Denning is taking a break from travelling with the World Superbike team, to instead cycle across the French Alps in a bid to raise as much money as possible for charity.
Denning, along with friend and Voltcom Group Director Stan Watt, will tackle the arduous 550km route over four days from June 14th to 17th, as the 2014 Dallaglio Cycle Slam tackles some of the most famous climbs of the ‘Tour de France’ in aid of the Dallaglio Foundation and Teenage Cancer Trust.
The 3rd stage of the four week 2014 Cycle Slam travels from Chamonix to Chambery and features over 15,000 metres of vertical climbing - with 5,500 metres alone during the third day’s 180km route taking in some of the Tour’s most brutal climbs in a single day - Col de la Madeleine, Col du Telegraph, Col du Galibier and finally up into Les Deux Alpes. Full route details can be found at https://www.dallagliocycleslam.com/stage-3/
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the seven young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day - a staggering statistic. They know that dealing with cancer at an already challenging time in your life is tough, so they support young people along the journey to ensure their experience is as positive as it can be. Dallaglio Foundation: England rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio’s foundation aims to provide youth engagement and social inclusion programmes, striving to make a profound impact on the lives of marginalised young people. Using rugby as a vehicle for engagement, they work within both schools and communities to increase young people's sense of worth, help them to make better life choices and raise their future aspirations with a view to increasing their employability prospects, with significant results. These two valuable and worthwhile organisations undertake incredible work to enhance the lives of sick, underprivileged or troubled children, providing support, information, structure and in many cases a brighter future. Voltcom Crescent Suzuki is proud to promote their efforts, and those of the Dallaglio Cycle Slam participants.

“This 3rd stage of the 2014 Cycle Slam is quite a challenge for any experienced cyclist. For a desk jockey like me it’s positively daunting but I’m looking forward to it, and hoping to raise as much money as possible for these two very effective charities. It’s important to note that all of the participants are paying 100% of their own costs, so all funds raised go directly to the charities rather than to any overheads.”
