SRT Picks Up the Pace at Road America

Elkhart Lake, WI– The AMA sanctioned ASRA Team Challenge Series presented by Michelin Tire enjoyed near perfect weather at Road America for round 4 of the series and the formidable SRT Racing squad (Michael O’Malley, Cory West) ran a flawless race to take their first Overall victory in the ASRA Team Challenge Series. The SRT Suzuki 1000 only relinquished the lead to eventual runner-up Grease Monkey Racing (Eric Helmbach) during their second fuel stop at lap 31. The Grease Monkey BMW 1000 handed the lead right back to SRT on lap 33 and that was all it took for SRT to cruise to the win 28,282 seconds ahead of GMR. Third overall, and the only other bike to complete 39 laps, was the Team Worldwide Yamaha 600 (John Anderson Captain), just 1:04.063 behind the winner.

For GTO (Unlimited class), it was SRT Racing followed by the Grease Monkey Racing and then the Farrell Performance Motorsports Kawasaki 1000 ( Calvin Martinez, Mark Rhoades) in third position 1 lap down to the winner.

The GTU (Middleweight class) was well represented by Team Worldwide with the class win and third Overall, while Jinba Ittia (Joel Lenk, Matt Brown) finished fourth Overall and second on GTU. The TK Racing Team (Tony Storniolo, Kevin Tregellas) secured a third place finish on their Kawasaki 600. With their second place finish, Jinba Ittia takes the GTU point lead by 24 over the MDM/Bubblegum team with 4 races remaining in the 2015 series.

As the race started for the GTL class, it looked once again like it would be another battle between Mavros Motorsports (Charlie Mavros, Seth Starnes) and Ducati Depot Team (Tom Eubank, Greg Melka) but a mechanical failure put the Ducati Depot out of the event before they could make a serious challenge for the lead. Taking up the mantle was the Fast Guys Racing (Todd Evans, Wes Orloff) who jumped out to the class lead and held it until lap 24 when Mavros was able to get past and slowly pull away until the checkered flag, taking the win by 2:21.429 over FGT. The final podium spot went to LWT Racer 61 (Sam Wiest, William Finnerty), moving them up to second place in the 2015 GTL Championship standings behind Mavros Motorsports.
