Quarterley Racing/On Track Development Expands to Four Riders in MotoAmerica’s KTM RC390 Cup Series for 2017

Mooresville, NC (12/23/2016) – Draik Beauchamp and Benjamin Smith return to Quarterly Racing/On Track Development to contest the MotoAmerica KTM RC390 Cup, while KTM Cup veteran Jackson Blackmon and multi-time Mini GP Champion and Road Racing rookie Jake Leahey round out the team.

17-year-old Draik Beauchamp of Knoxville, TN- Successes including GNF & regional championships with WERA 250 Ninja and Superstock SV 650’s primed Draik for consistent running in the lead pack in his first season of the KTM RC390 Cup. Honing of his already well-developed club racing skills resulted in such an overall vast improvement of riding technique, a former coach and mentor stated he was a whole new rider after not seeing him at the club level all season. Draik looks forward to returning to several tracks that were new to him last year and the challenge of a new championship series run and what lies beyond. Draik will spend time on an SV650 between rounds as well. Confirmed 2017 Sponsors: Parents- Kurt & Alicia, 129 Photos, OEB Law, Spider Graphix, , Asphalt Addiction, Red Fox Racing.

Benjamin Smith (16) from Glenmoore PA- a highly successful racer with an arsenal of wins in CCS 250 Ninja and Supersort SV 650 racing. Benjamin is a returning KTM Cup series rider and proved to be a fast learner at the unfamiliar tracks showing great speed throughout the season as his skills developed and he adjusted to the precise and frantic pace of the front runners. Benjamin is ready to apply what he learned and chase the championship as well as spend some time on a 600 between rounds. Returning 2016 Sponsors: Dad, Arai, Gimoto, Absolute Cycle Experience, Solid Performance, Impact Armor, Sidi, Woodcraft, YCRS.

15-year-old “Action” Jackson Blackmon from Rock Hill South Carolina returns to the Moto America KTM Cup series where he progressed greatly in 2016 to become a serious championship contender. Jackson literally grew into the bike and showed the skill and speed to run up front with some brilliant rides and constant improvement throughout the season. He joins the team with a great resume including 2015 AMA Youth rider of the Year , 2015 AMA Moto 3 National Champion and 2016 Yamaha R3 Cup winner. Jackson looks forward to further tuning of his skills and race craft on his quest to solidify himself as a championship contender. He plans a busy season with seat time racing the Yamaha R3 Cup series with WERA and SV650 as well. Sponsors: Chuck Blackmon, Finishline Machine LLC, Dainese, XT Racing, Ballistic Performance Components, Amish Racing.

New on the scene is 14-year-old Jake Leahey from Hammonton NJ. Jake has wowed the crowd with his commanding performances in the Mini GP ranks. With mentor, sponsor, and AMA Flat Track veteran Scott Stump working tirelessly with him, and the stiff competition of the NJ MiniGP series providing a foundational program and track accessibility, Jake has mastered the art of getting everything possible out of a 10 HP bike. Also helping Jake with the transition to full sized bikes is Shane Narbonne, AMA Pro, Moto America and Supermoto veteran. Watching Jake ride, it becomes obvious he understands what it takes to go fast. More importantly, that riding style has resulted in 10 championships in 2016. This experience and a veteran team will propel him to compete at the pro level in his rookie season. Jake will continue to hone his skills with MiniGP and other opportunities throughout the season.

Sponsors: John & Britney Leahey, Arai, Spellcaster Productions, Shane Narbonne, Heroic Racing, United Asphalt.

Quarterley Racing/On Track Development, founded by former AMA Pro road racer Dale Quarterley in conjunction with veteran club racer, Bob Robbins continues its focus on support of young, up and coming road racers striving for the next level. The team made steady progress in its first season with consistent top ten finishes and maturity of the riders in both race craft and general sportsmanship on and off the track. A hands-on approach and delegated responsibilities educates the riders on what is going on beneath them as well as in the paddock around them.

The KTM RC390 serves as a great platform for a tightly controlled spec racing series, offering riders the chance to compete at the top level of US Road Racing with MotoAmerica and the opportunity to progress into the 600 classes. All four riders are counting the days until the first event.
