One Day Past Entry Deadline, AMA Pro Racing Lists 28 Riders For 2013 Daytona 200 (Updated With Chart)

As of 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, February 26th--the day after the announced deadline for entries--the official AMA Pro Racing website listed 28 riders entered in the 2013 Daytona 200.

That's down from the 46 riders entered in 2012, the 50 entered in 2011, the 51 entered in 2010, the 84 entered in 2009, the 71 entered in 2008, the 76 entered in 2007, the 78 entered in 2006 and the 91 entered in 2005, the first year of the event switching to a 600cc format. In 2004, the last year of the Daytona 200 featuring 1000cc Superbikes, the event drew 65 entries.

Over a 10-year period, Daytona 200 entries have looked like this:

Meanwhile, entries in the reconfigured SuperSport class at Daytona took off once age restrictions were lifted. In 2009 and 2010--with age restrictions in place--the class drew just 23 and 22 entries, respectively. In 2011, the class drew 44 entries at Daytona with 53 entries in 2012 and 56 entries listed for 2013 so far.

So SuperSport entries have looked like this over five years:
