N2 / WERA Superbike Challenge Endurance is Back for 2017 – Kicks Off at New Jersey

Asbury NJ – N2 Track Days and WERA Motorcycle Roadracing have announced their Superbike Challenge endurance event schedule for 2017. With the success of last year’s Steel City Superbike Challenge, the two organizations have carved out more events for 2017, including New Jersey Motorsports Park – a first for WERA. The Superbike Challenge endurance series is part of N2’s commitment to road racing in America and the growth of this sport.

Brad Scott, COO of New Jersey Motorsports Park comments, “We are very excited to host the N2/WERA Superbike Challenge at our facility and have big plans in store for this spectator event over the Memorial Day weekend.”

Each endurance event will follow a three-day format and include both a 4-hour and 2-hour endurance race. The inaugural endurance race held at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (PIRC) featured a 4-hour main event broken down into three classes: heavyweight, middleweight and lightweight featuring a $10,000 purse divided equally among the top 3 finishes. With the growing popularity of smaller displacement machines, a 2-hour ultra-lightweight endurance race has been added to the event.

Robert Cichielo, N2’s CEO adds, “We honestly didn’t know what to expect kicking off last year’s event, but the turnout and the overwhelming response was far greater than anything we had ever expected. It was evident that many racers longed for an exciting endurance series, so we decided to test the waters with WERA and host our first event. Given its success, we intend to up the ante for 2017”.

WERA will once again be officiating the event including registration, tech inspection, and timing/scoring with the help of N2’s road racing staff. Aaron Borello and Scott Rosey, both veterans of WERA road racing, will be providing oversight and racer support for all N2 roadr acing events. If you have questions specific to this race event, they may be reached via e-mail at [email protected].

“I believe the more we work and partner together in this sport of motorcycle road racing the better it is for all! N2 and WERA Motorcycle Roadracing put on a joint event in 2016, and this year we are expanding that relationship. To be able to host an event at Pitt Race again and to be able to bring WERA Motorcycle Roadracing to New Jersey in 2017 is huge. Working with Rob and his crew is seamless and now a rider can do a track day, take a racing school, run in a no pressure endurance and try sprint racing – all in one weekend – how awesome is that?” said Evelyne Clarke, CEO of WERA Motorcycle Roadracing.

The specific rules governing this event can be found on the N2 road racing website. Online registration will be available in January 2017, look for further announcements.
