ENERGICA EGO CORSA TO BE UNLEASHED AROUND MOTORLAND ARAGÓN

The last Grand Prix before the long and tiring journey in the South-Eastern part of the globe will take place this weekend at the stunning MotorLand Aragón circuit near the town of Alcañiz, Spain. This will be a crucial event for the dreams of gold of every rider and team involved in the series, but also another incredible opportunity for Energica and its top-tier all-electric superbike machine Ego Corsa to have a blast around the 5.1km (3.15 mile) long, fun and complete Spanish circuit.

The rider selected to carry out the demo lap duties at the thirteenth event of the 2018 MotoGP™ World Championship is Fonsi Nieto, nephew of the late-great Ángel Nieto and former runner up in the 250cc World Championship (2003). Fonsi has a tally of four wins in the then middleweight class of MotoGP, but also stepped atop the podium in World Superbike (2007) and raced both in MotoGP and Moto2.

“The truth is I am very excited to try the Ego Corsa as it’s something new for me” says Fonsi Nieto. “It’s been a while since I have last been on track – eight years! – and to be riding in front of the Spanish crowd on such a great track like MotorLand Aragón is going to be something truly special. From when I was a little kid, my family and I gave everything to this sport, so I cannot wait. I spoke quite a lot with Alex [Crivillé] and Loris [Capirossi] and the expectations for trying the Ego Corsa are high! I would like to thank Dorna and Energica for making me become part of this new era from the first minute, but also team Pramac for offering me a seat in this series – even though I consider myself too old to accept it – and my current employer Movistar for their support.”

The thirteenth demo lap of the year on the road to the first-ever edition of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup will get underway on Sunday at 13:20 local time (GMT +2).
