Erik Buell Racing (EBR) Returns to Road America for 2013 AMA Superbike Races
The EBR AMA Superbike team will return to Road America for the Subway Superbike doubleheader here 5/31 through 6/2 at the historic Elkhart Lake, WI racetrack. “This is our home track and a lot of our supporters will be on hand” says Erik Buell, team owner and CEO of Erik Buell Racing, a small East Troy, Wisconsin motorcycle manufacturer and engineering consulting company, “We always enjoy meeting our fans and the big turnout is very inspiring. Road America is a tough track and the team has been hard at work getting ready. We are hoping for solid results”
EBR, founded by Mr. Buell in 2009, designs and builds American sport bikes. The first EBR motorcycle produced is the exotic 1190 RS racing at Road America. It is a Superbike built in very limited numbers and is designed to be competitive in the AMA Superbike series with very few modifications. EBR is the only American manufacture competing in the Superbike series, and the multiple top five and podium finishes earned by EBR in 2012 AMA Pro Superbike series demonstrate just how competitive this new motorcycle is. EBR finished third in the manufacturers standings in 2012, a stunning achievement for the first season.
Rider Geoff May will be in the saddle of the #99 Team Hero 1190RS, sponsored by Hero MotoCorp and AMSOIL. Geoff is an extremely talented AMA racer with a bright future ahead of him. Aaron Yates is aboard the #20 Team AMSOIL/Hero 1190RS, and is also a very experienced AMA rider with several championships and a Superbike podium on his resume.
“I truly enjoy being with the EBR team and am looking forward to our second season on the EBR 1190RS” says Geoff, “It is an amazing motorcycle already, and being able to work side by side with the guys who actually designed the bike is exciting.” Aaron also expressed his feelings, “I have had a long and successful career in AMA Superbike, and it is really something special to now be racing an American motorcycle in this class.”
Hero MotoCorp Ltd is an Indian Company and is the world’s largest producer of two-wheeled vehicles. In 2012 they signed strategic agreements with EBR to not only sponsor the EBR AMA Superbike team, a first for any Indian company, but also to develop new models using EBR’s cutting edge technology and expertise in the motorcycle market.
AMSOIL, based in Superior, Wisconsin, is a world leader in synthetic lubricant technology and was the world’s first manufacturer of API-qualified synthetic motor oil.

THORNBURY, ON - Ben Young, coming off of his best AMA Pro GoPro Daytona Sportbike finish of 8th place in the 72nd running of the Daytona 200, is eager to get back to business this weekend at the Subway SuperBike Doubleheader at Road America Elkhart Lake, WI - May 31 - June 2.
Although the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona Sportbike season opener at Daytona International Speedway seems like it was half a season away the 19 year old Canadian road racer has kept himself busy. In addition to his ongoing training, Young took some time to connect with fans through interviews on Canada’s Raceline Radio Network, US-based Next Moto Champion Radio and Michigan City's WIMS AM 1420. Additionally the resident of Thornbury Ontario spoke at Chelmsford Valley District Composite School’s Career Day about his passion for racing on behalf sponsor Gilles Bolduc of Tim Hortons-Sudbury.
The young pilot’s Daytona 200 result seemed to make an impression on local Thornbury Home Hardware owner Phil Havens as he offered additional support to ensure Young would be able to continue his progress this season.
“Ben is a fine young man and I’m impressed by his commitment to his sport. I know how hard he works at his day-to-day job with his father’s company Scotbuild Developments. It’s apparent he applies this same work ethic at the track.” said Havens.
Not one to turn down an opportunity to get in some additional track-time Young headed to Shannonville Motorsports Park in Ontario for a fun weekend on his Honda RS 125. However a freak slow-speed high side ended his playtime early resulting in a minor hairline fracture of his left foot.
When asked about his injury and the forthcoming Subway SuperBike Doubleheader at Road America Young stated; “It was so weird. I was taking it easy on the first lap then I started to pick up the pace but not even close to full on. It was one of the highest high-sides I’ve had. I was lucky to get away with only a fracture and I’ve been resting my foot since the incident. It’s not one hundred percent yet but I’m ready. Road America is one of my favourite circuits and I can’t wait to get back out there on my BYR Yamaha R6!”
Road America is one of the most historic venues in all of motorsports. Celtic Racing Ready To Race At Road America This Weekend
Celtic Racing is eager to return to Elkhart Lake Wisconsin for the second round of the 2013 AMA Pro Road Racing season at the historic Road America circuit. It has been a long break since the opening round at Daytona, but the entire Celtic Racing crew has been busy preparing, testing, and improving steadily. Road America presents the team and riders with unique challenges, and is tremendously entertaining for the spectators as well.
National Guard Celtic Racing's James Rispoli scored a podium finish in the 2012 SuperSport Race 1 last year at Road America, and seeks to improve his results in the Daytona Sport Bike class this year aboard his #43 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600. Rispoli is excited to get back to Road America and said that "after Daytona I chilled for a bit, and then got started doing some mountain biking for training, in addition to the road bike. We did a test at Barber which was very successful for the National Guard Celtic team, and after that I went out to California for the Star School and National Guard training day. Since then, I have been home and on the bicycle every day putting in a lot of work getting ready for road America. Shout out to Monster Energy, Techmounts, Spider Grips, AGV Helmets, and Dainese for all their support!"
Corey Alexander has also used the time off to work hard at strength and endurance training. Alexander also enjoyed a podium finish in last year's SuperSport race 2, and will build on his 2013 Daytona podium to make Road America a success as well. Corey will be riding the #5 National Guard Suzuki GSX-R 600 in the SuperSport class, and stated "we've had an extremely long break in between Daytona and Road America. Luckily enough I've been able to ride some motocross, supermoto, and even a bit of roadracing in the break. I'm very, very excited to be able to throw my leg back over my National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki again and build upon our podium finish at Daytona. I'm really looking forward to having a successful season and can't wait for it to begin! Thanks to all of my personal sponsors Arai Helmets, Spidi Leathers, XPD Boots, AMMO NYC, Hudson Valley Motorcycles, and the industries' and fans' patience during this racing hiatus!"
Caroline Olsen will be aboard the #44 Celtic Orient Express Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 in the highly competitive SuperSport class for the race at Road America. Caroline has been working closely with the Star Motorcycle School, honing her skills and learning about the U.S. tracks. Caroline explained that "after Daytona I went back to Norway to work on developing more sponsors. I've been living in California at Jason Pridmore's for the last month, training hard, and trying to prepare as well as possible for what is ahead this season. We had a very successful test at Barber with the team, so I'm very excited about the rest of the season." Caroline would like to thank her personal sponsors Arai Helmets, Cato Composites, Dainese Leathers, LOXY, Norgesautomaten, Lovaas Motor, Bike, Nordic Crane, Leif Grimsrud, Berg Sparebank, Skogheim Profil og Yrkesklaer, and F.
