More On Lap Records Falling With WSMC At Streets Of Willow Last Weekend

Lap Records Fall At WSMC Streets Of Willow Round

Even though weather conditions were not ideal, lap records tumbled at the WSMC Streets of Willow round this last weekend, with nine class records re-set and the overall lap record broken at least three times throughout the course of the event.

The notorious Antelope Valley winds had kicked up early in the day. But one key section of the 1.8-mile course had been re-paved, and it was the second visit to the track this season for the series, so racers had more experience and more set-up knowledge for the return engagement.

Leading the charge was Jeremy Toye, who took the Lee's Cycle Services-tuned, Dunlop-shod, project BMW S1000RR to two class lap records and the overall track record. Toye broke his own 1:14.271 overall lap record on Saturday afternoon in the Solo GTO race while tuning and testing the still relatively-stock bike, re-set the overall mark while setting the class record in Open Superbike at 1:13.797 and lowered it again while setting the Formula One class record at 1:13.516.

Other lap records were set by:

Tyler Linders in 250cc GP, 1:23.112.
Jimmy Wood in 650cc Superbike, 1:14.352.
Ken Kramer in 750cc Modified Production, 1:19.372.
Karl Lowry in 750cc Superbike, 1:16.892.
Shawn Higbee in Formula Twins Heavyweight, 1:15.375.
Rickey Herd in Ninja Cup, 1:29.908.
James Randolph in Open Superstock, 1:16.052.
