A memorial service has been scheduled for Franklin "Pancho" Spain, the 2008 Willow Springs Motorcycle Club (WSMC) Top Rookie Expert, who died Sunday in a racing crash at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, California.
Spain, 54, of San Pedro, had finished second in the Middleweight Twins race aboard his Suzuki SV650 and then jumped onto his GSX-R1000 for the Formula 50 race that immediately followed. Spain lost the front end in Turn Eight, crashed, and resuscitative efforts were unsuccessful.
The service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 731 S. Averil Ave., San Pedro, CA. 90732. The church can be reached at (310) 832-7597.
Spain is survived by his mother and sister.
