Advance, North Carolina (January 30, 2013) - Top talent and industry insiders from the motorcycle world give their uncut opinions and stories.
Greg Heichelbech, CEO - Triumph North America
The good news from Triumph keeps coming with all new models in 2013 including the Daytona 675, Trophy SE and Street Triple. Since Greg joined the company Triumph North America has been on the move posting impressive numbers and clearly getting the attention of the motorcycle market. Heichelbech was formerly Director of Dealer Development and Retail Environment Group for Harley-Davidson Motor Company as well as Director of Strategic Sales and Marketing, and Director of Platform Marketing for Buell American Motorcycles.
Aaron Yates, AMA Pro Superbike Racer - Amsoil/HERO Team
The big news in from EBR Racing is the recent addition of Aaron Yates to the now two-man superbike squad. Yates will be joining teammate Geoff May on the EBR 1190RS for the 2013 season. His crew chief will be Evan Steel. Yates, a former Superbike factory rider and nine-time AMA Superbike race winner, has been mostly out of professional superbike racing since he sustained a serious leg injury back in 2010 at Fontana. He raced for the Jordan Suzuki when he sustained the injury.
Paul James, Director of Consumer Events - Harley Davidson Motor Company
This is Paul's 15th year at Harley Davidson. 2013 is the 110th year anniversary and they have big plans in store. They just announced a partnership with Kid Rock as he will be endorsing the brand as well as performing at their 110th Year Anniversary party on Labor Day in Milwaukee. Harley also plans to have a UFC fight at the party and a huge assortment of entertainment including music, demos, vendor village, tours of the Powertrain Operations, and more. Paul also races in the AMA Pro Vance and Hines XR 1200 class. Last year he finished 12th in points with two top-ten finishes.
Dane Westby, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike - Geico Honda
Westby, who finished the 2012 season in 2nd overall in the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike Series with one win and nine podium finishes, will competing on a Honda CBR600RR in 2013. The Wolverine had a great season and is looking forward to winning the championship in 2013 in the Daytona Sportbike class. The Geico-backed team is fielded by Chris Ulrich Racing with technical and logistical support provided by Team Hammer.
Matt Goerke, 450 Supercross/Motocross - Team BTO Sports
Last year Matt started with the Team BTO Sports (AKA Butler Bros. Racing) as a fill-in rider on Suzuki's. He was the top rider in the Canadian Outdoor Motocross Series at the time and had to make a decision when the opportunity came whether he would stay in Canada to defend his title or sign as a full time rider for BTO. He opted to ride in the U.S. and his decision seems to be the right one. He's had a fantastic year and sits tenth in points after his seventh place finish this past Saturday in Oakland. This is year ten for Team BTO Sports and they now have Factory KTM support.
Kelly Smith, AMSOIL Arenacross - Team Faith
Kelly Smith is a three-time, 4-Stroke National Champion and an AMA National Outdoor winner. He has represented teams including Factory Red Bull KTM, Yamaha of Troy, Motosport Honda, Rockstar Suzuki and Monster Energy Kawasaki. He has twice been the winner of the high-profile Las Vegas event, the U.S. Open of Supercross. In his rookie season of Arenacross in 2008, Smith had 7 main event wins and found himself on the podium every weekend, finishing second overall in the series points. This past weekend in Tulsa, Kelly went 2-9 for sixth overall and sits fourth in points.
