A retired 67-year-old man from Yorkshire, England, was arrested by police for delaying the start of practice/qualifying Monday night, May 28 at the Isle of Man TT. According to a local news report, James William Ford was in the Crosby section of the 37-mile-long public roads circuit and race marshals asked him to move. Ford refused and became “aggressive and belligerent” with marshals, according to an article on www.manxradio.com. The marshals called Race Direction, which then called the police.

The incident caused the start of practice/qualifying to be delayed 20 minutes, according to the report.

Ford appeared in court Tuesday, admitted guilt and was sentenced to four weeks in jail, deportation from the Isle of Man (which is a sovereign nation), and a ban from visiting the island for five years.
