ABOUT DREAM RACER

Written, produced and directed by Simon Lee; edited by Adrian Barac; with original music by Matteo Zingales – Dream Racer is a spine-tingling account of the fear of life passing us by unfulfilled and the pursuit of our dreams as a defining antidote to this crippling fear.

The film tells the extraordinary true story of French-Australian Business Consultant Christophe Barriere-Varju; who defies extreme physical hardship and personal tragedy, as he attempts to take on the world’s toughest and most dangerous motor race – the legendary Dakar Rally – on a motorbike… and on his own.

Simon Lee – facing his own personal fears and challenges – followed him on this incredible roller-coaster adventure – from battling to find the funds to participate to his exhausting preparations in the sand dunes of eastern Australia. Culminating in two weeks and 10,000 thrilling and emotional kilometres across some of the harshest terrains of South America, Christophe shares his aspirations and faces his fears as he competes in the ‘race of his life.’

Dream Racer portrays the Dakar Rally in its most pure and raw form – no multi-national corporate sponsors, no multi-million dollar team, not even a mechanic – just one man, one motorbike, a tool-roll, and the most dangerous motor race on the planet.

Far more than just a motorbike film, Dream Racer is a call to action to anyone who has ever dreamed of doing anything – and that is all of us. The fear of life passing us by unfulfilled is palpable – Dream Racer is the fuel; the inspiration and motivation for kick-starting your own life aspirations. “One to One” (Christophe’s Race Number: 121) as he quotes, says it all – “Your only opponent… your only competitor… is yourself.”

Whatever we aspire to – Dream Racer proves that all of us are capable of finding something extraordinary deep within ourselves to empower us to turn our dreams into absolute reality.

Acclaimed worldwide, Dream Racer has earned great success and collected multiple Feature Film Awards with prestigious wins in Los Angeles, Barcelona, Milan and New York. The film has gathered a following of international viewers, whose glowing testimonials recognize the true inspiration of human spirit that flows from the film.

Mitchell Block – producer of academy award documentary Big Mama – honoured Dream Racer as “A COMPELLING, MOVING AND POWERFUL FILM.”

Candide McDonald of Australian Creative Magazine hailed Dream Racer as “THE MOTIVATIONAL FILM OF THE DECADE.”

Leigh Whetter, Cornish-Australian Designer and Artist, applauded “THIS FILM PRESENTS US WITH A SIMPLE MESSAGE THAT MOST OF US IGNORE – DON’T WASTE YOUR LIFE, MAKE SURE YOU GRAB EVERY OPPORTUNITY WITH BOTH HANDS AND YOUR HEART.”

Dream Racer has been subtitled in Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German and Russian and is available for acquisition by TV Networks Dream Racer is also available worldwide on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Video-on-Demand at www.dreamracer.tv
