CMRA Rider Gabriel Martinez-Abrego to Test Moto3 in Spain

Mexican born and Texas resident racer Gabriel Martinez-Abrego will test a Moto3 bike on Tuesday February 3rd at Circuito de Cartagena in Cartagena, Spain. The CMRA active rider was invited by Moto3 Worldwide Race Itallian based Team Owner Fiorenzo Caponera to their official team presentation held in Milan, Italy this past Thursday January 29th. At the event Mr. Caponera presented 2015 Team riders Alessandro Tonucci and Darryn Binder with their new Mahindra Moto3 bike with new title sponsor OutOx livery.

After the Milan presentation, and visit to Alpinestars Headquarters in Asolo in Northern Italy, Gabriel traveled to Elche, Alicante in South Spain to meet with Team OutOx Trainer Jordy Manzoni. An intense three day training program was set for Gabriel along side team riders Tonucci and Binder.

Track day will be coordinated by the Team’s Technical Director Jose Manuel Ruiz and supervised by Mr. Caponera himself. ” We expect Gabriel to do about 60-70 laps tomorrow. He will ride alone with no pressure from other riders in the track, we need him to get to know the feel of the bike and learn the track before proceeding forward ” commented the team owner. A support team including one telemetry engineer and one mechanic will assist the test.

After the track session, Gabriel will fly back to Italy for medical and psychological evaluations. The objective of this short but intense program is to evaluate Gabriel’s riding skills as well as other aspects that a rider faces in racing. The outcome of this process will help define a preparation and development program that will be aimed to place Gabriel as the first Mexican rider in the Moto3 World Championship, including the series for him to race in the 2015 and 2016 race seasons.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for me, I will ride a real Moto3 bike. I believe riding alone in the track is the ideal condition at this initial phase. I will do my best and most important I will enjoy the time at the track. I am very thankful to the team and the people who made this possible,” commented Gabriel.

This test is possible thanks to a Team OutOx sponsor, whom show interest in collaborating with Gabriel’s racing development as they will launch their products in the Mexican market soon. Worldwide Race is one of the oldest organization in the 125 GP and Moto3 series. His winning records include two 125 GP Championships. The team has support the initial development of World Champions such as Roberto Locatelli, Marco Simoncelli, Arnaud Vincent and Alex Marquez.
