Munich, 19th September 2014. BMW Motorrad Motorsport is preparing for a special event next week: from 22nd to 25th September the specialists from Munich will be on site to support the FIM Women’s Road Racing Training Camp at Brno (CZ). The event is organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and its Women in Motorcycling Commission (CFM). The FIM launched the project last year to improve the level of women´s Road Racing and is now about to organise the third in a series of training camps.

As a partner, BMW Motorrad provides the BMW S 1000 RRs for these trainings camps and the experts from BMW Motorrad Motorsport take over the preparation of the bikes on site. The FIM Women’s Road Racing Training Camps give female riders from all over the world the opportunity to train with high-spec motorcycles and professional coaches on a major racing circuit. For next week’s camp at the Brno MotoGP circuit, 30 participants from 11 countries have so far registered – this is a new record. As registration is still open, these numbers still could rise.

“Our previous camps in Albacete and Almeria were really successful, and we were surprised that so many riders took part,” says Commission Director Nita Korhonen. “But now I am even more excited as we are going to set a record in Brno, as we will have at least 30 women taking part! This is a clear signal that we really need to invest in women´s Road Racing, help these riders to improve their riding skills and also reach the highest level. Also the trainers have heard about our camps and we have been contacted by ex MotoGP riders and top level instructors.”

The camp in Brno will have very high-level instructors such as ex MotoGP-racers Simon Crafar and Jürgen Fuchs, Sabine Holbrook, female Supersport 600 rider in the FIM European Alpe Adria Championship, and Maria Costello, who for five years held the Guinness World Record for being the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT course. Juliane Eger will also join the camp with her “Fit2Ride” programme.
