The Conner Blevins/Danny Kelsey team, brought home the win in the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s (CMRA) second Team 60 race this past Saturday, May 18. CMRA began its fourth round of the season on Saturday with a 4-Hour Mini Endurance, Mini Sprints, Team 60 race, and the new Solo 30 races bringing over 10 hours of racing action to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Hallett, Oklahoma. Hot humid weather with temperatures in the 90’s and a high chance of rain greeted competitors as the lap times stayed fast on the 1.8mile, 11-turn course.

The Mini Sprint grids kicked off Saturday’s racing action with Formula 4 and Texas Tornado Boot Camp Superstock E once again having about 20 entries each.

The 4-Hour Mini Endurance had a combined grid of 21 teams, with Formula 4 Endurance represented. The green flag dropped and the Green Machine team, consisting of Brandon Altmeyer, Jesse Davis, David Tiede and Ryan Andrews, riding a Kawasaki EX250, took the lead, with the RyderHard Racing team of Ken Ryder, Jay Newton and Shawn Diamond, also on a Kawasaki EX250, hot on their heels. The two teams battled it out, holding down first and second places for the entire 4 hour event while completing 150 laps. Green Machine ran the fastest lap of the race, turning 1:32.048 on lap 112, and took the checkers for the overall endurance and Formula 4 win. RyderHard Racing finished second overall and in Formula 4, and the Rat On A Stick team of Greg Wanless and Will Boldt took third overall and in Formula 4 with a Kawasaki EX250 and completing 147 laps.

The new Solo 30 Expert and Novice races drew decent grids as well, with racers lining up to sprint for 30 minutes in one stint on one bike. Ted Phillips took the win for Solo 30 Heavyweight Expert with his Aprilia RSV4, while Kevin Taylor won Heavyweight Novice on his Honda CBR1000RR. Eric Williams rode his Yamaha YZF-R6 to the win in Solo 30 Middleweight Expert, while Chris Hamlett took the win in Middleweight Novice with his Suzuki GSX-R600. Solo 30 Lightweight Expert had Jeff Kulchinski for the win on his Suzuki SV650, and Britten Geary won Lightweight Novice with a Suzuki SV650.

The final race of the day was the Team 60 race, with a healthy grid of 30 teams. The LeMans-style start used at the first round, was not employed at the second round due to the safety concern with the much narrower track width at Hallett.

The exciting action started with the Conner Blevins/Danny Kelsey team turning the fastest lap of the race of 1:15.882 on Lap 2, leading in the overall and in Heavyweight . The Ty Howard/Brandon Young team was right on their heels with a fastest lap of 1:16.939, running second overall and in Heavyweight, and the Andy Galindo/Eric Williams pairing pulled a 1:20.172, running third overall and first in Middleweight. The race leaders diced it up, putting on a great show, and when the checkers dropped at 6 pm, Blevins/Kelsey took the overall and Heavyweight win, with Howard/Young in second overall and Heavyweight. Galindo/Williams took third overall and first in Middleweight.
