Irishman Martin Finnegan, 29, died Saturday as the result of injuries he received after crashing his JMF Millsport Yamaha YZF-R6 while competing in a 600cc Supersport race at the Dalzell's of Markethill Tandragee 100 National Road Race, according to reports from the BBC.

The Tandragee 100 is held on a 5.34-mile section of closed-off public roads. Front-runners' average lap speeds are over 100 mph.

Earlier in the day Finnegan had won the Junior Open Race, “the 43rd Irish road race victory of his career,” according to the BBC.

Three spectators were also hurt in Finnegan’s crash, but their injuries were reported to be not life-threatening.

The rest of the event was cancelled after the incident.

Finnegan is survived by a wife and daughter.
