Pirelli and the 2016 Bonneville Speed Trials: Two Brothers, Two Bikes and Two Speed Records

ROME, Ga. (September 23, 2016) – The Pirelli equipped Zlock Racing team of Dan and Dale Zlock returned to Bonneville in 2016 with a set plan and that was to do something unique by setting speed records during the same Speed Week. Dan riding the No. 656 Kawasaki ZX9-R in the APS-AG 1000 class hit 176.815 mph for a new class record. Dale, who was aboard the No.2321 Suzuki GSX-R750, clocked 166.619 mph for a new record in the APS-AG 750 class.

“The salt is famous for being a tricky place to go fast and I’m stoked that Dale and I were both able to grab records this year,” said Dan Zlock. “With the salt flats being closed in 2015 due to flooding, we put in countless hours of preparation and worked extra hard to get these bikes tuned to perfection in order to allow us to get the job done.”

“Pirelli would like to congratulate Dale and Dan on their incredible accomplishments in Bonneville,” said Pirelli NAFTA Road Race Manager Jeff Johnston. “We have found the Rosso Corsa tread pattern and design helps get the bike up on top of the salt, providing great traction, minimal drag and that is what gets records at Speed Week in Bonneville.”
