Duhamel crashes, a vicious highside exit of turn one, lap 43! He picks the bike up and takes off again despite suffering a hard hit on the back of his helmet. He passes the start/finish line about 10 seconds behind Zemke. Lap 45 Duhamel pits. His visor is loose on the right side. He asks for tape, a crew man tapes the visor, the tape doesn’t stick. Duhamel continues without a windscreen. Lap 45, Gobert pits. Lap 46, Zemke pits, Hayes pits. Lap 46, May pits for fuel and tires. Lap 47, Eslick pits for fuel and tires. Lap 50 Running Order 1. Zemke 2. Hayes 3. DiSalvo 4. Duhamel 5. Bostrom 6. Gobert 7. May 8. Wood 9. Eslick 10. Gruy Eslick pits with a mechanical problem. Duhamel’s crew has a replacement helmet ready for him. Duhamel is running 1:44s and 1:45s to leader Zemke’s 1:42s. Bostrom passes Duhamel on lap 53. Lap 54: The pace car comes out! Duhamel is passing riders behind the pace car, looks like he’s going down the pit road, then doesn’t, and pulls up behind the pace car, then backs off and follows Bostrom, who is the first rider behind the pace car. As if he doesn’t know what to do. But isn’t the pace car supposed to pick up the race leader when it goes out? Confusion reigns! Meanwhile, a crashed rider (Anthony Fania, Jr.) flips off the TV cameras with both hands. Lap 55 Running Order: 1. Zemke 2. Hayes 3. DiSalvo 4. Bostrom 5. Duhamel 6. Gobert 7. May 8. Wood 9. Young 10. Elleby With the race leaders completely mixed up with the lapped riders, the restart may be chaos. The pace car pulls off the track. Now what? The green comes out, and Bostrom and Duhamel lead the mixed field into turn one. Leader Zemke could possibly put Bostrom a lap down in a moment. Lap 60 Running Order: 1. Zemke 2. Zemke picks up the pace to run 1:41 on the lap going to the white flag. Zemke runs another 1:41 lap, to Hayes’ 1:42, and at the finish, Zemke beats Hayes by 1.561 second.
