Willow Springs International Motorsports Park has a new California State authorized on-site ambulance service. After over fifty years of dealing with the high cost of off-premises ambulances services Bill Huth, owner of Willow Springs International Raceway has succeeded in acquiring the right to service on-sight racing accidents and injuries. This service is restricted to the limits of the property involved in Willow Spring International Motorsports Park, which is slightly over 600 acres. This new service will have its headquarters on the outside of turn 9 on the ground floor of the Toyota Suites Building. Here Emergency Medical Technicians and Fire Fighters will be available for emergency medical care and accidental fire fighting during operational hours of the Park. The center is also equipped with full handicapped facilities. The location of the center makes access to any of the race tracks, which include the Kart Track, the Drifting Facility, the Horse Thief Mile, the Streets of Willow, the Speedway, Walt James Stadium, the Skid Pad and World Famous Willow Springs Road Course. This medical aid convenience center and transfer station has been there ever since the building was erected but due to no control by the raceway itself over the services offered by outside companies it has not been used since it was built several years ago. The new service will have ambulances and fire fighting equipment for protection and will be backed up by the local fire department and ambulance services stationed in Rosamond in case any patient needs hospitalization. Dramatically reducing the high cost of ambulance standby services to about half does not mean the service will be cut; they will be better than ever. Chuck Stewart, an EMT that has been serving Willow Springs for over a decade is and will continue to be the chief steward. Additional help will come from Infield Fire Rescue who have been in service here for several decades and will continue overseeing track fire rescue and removal of broken or out of service racecars from the different tracks. Emergency medical standby service will be under the direct control of Chuck Stewart while the ambulances and med center will belong to WSIMP. Fire rescue will continue in its regular services. Prices now stand at: 1. Medical emergency standby: 2 EMT ‘s and ambulance / $75.00 per hour. 2. Fire / Rescue emergency standby: 2 EMT ‘s schooled in fire fighting techniques and a fully equipped fire / rescue vehicle with extraction equipment, flat-towing capabilities and trailer or harness / $75.00 per hour. In case transportation to a hospital by ambulance is necessary its availability is ten minutes from their Rosamond headquarters to our Emergency Medical transfer station where the patient undergoes examination and preparation for transportation to the Antelope Valley Hospital, which is less than twenty miles away. Willow Springs Motorcycle Club will be using this BLS ambulance during their events until further. Questions or comments regarding this new service should be directed to Chris Huth or Chuck Stewart at [email protected] or by phoning Willow Springs Raceway at 661-256-2471.
