CCS RACE OF CHAMPIONS BOASTS 15 DUCATI RIDERS A full field of Ducati racers battle for the $10,000 grand prize as part of the Ducati Racing Contingency Program Cupertino, CA This year marked a strong building year for Ducati in professional AMA racing with a 3rd place finish in the championship and the announcement of a racing contingency program in North America for AMA and club level racing. With $850,000 in posted prize money, racers have flooded starting grids across the country with Ducati Superbikes and Supersports. One of the highlights of this season is the CCS Race of Champions held this weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida where Ducati posted a $10,000 first place purse in the SuperTwins expert class and $5,000 for Thunderbikes and Middleweight Supersport. Ducati racers are coming from all over the country to compete for the $10,000 prize. Local Ducati dealers, showing the passion for racing runs deep through the Ducati company and dealer network, sponsor many of the riders. Some of the Ducati faithful competing this weekend are: Eric Wood (BCM Motorsports), Jason Etter (Section 8 Superbike), Ryan Andrews (Ducati Waco), and Tom Fournier (Dunbar Motorsports). Eric Wood has already had a successful season racing in the CCS series and Ryan Andrews raced a Ducati 749R in select AMA Formula Extreme rounds this year. “We are proud of the success of our racing contingency program this year. It’s great to see so many Ducati’s on the racetrack, which is where our bikes have dominated for years in World Superbike. The technology from those successful racebikes is in every Ducati produced. Our racing heritage dates back to the years before many of today’s racers were old enough to ride. But I’m happy to say we’re back in the race contingency business,” said Michael Lock Ducati North America CEO. The CCS Race of Champions will be held at Daytona International Speedway on October 21-23rd with the 6 lap SuperTwins race on Saturday and 10 lap Thunderbike race occurring Sunday.
