The CRA (Central Roadracing Association) completed their September race weekend with some close finishes and tight competition. Saturday Sept 10th’s race day began with a fan participant parade lap followed by close sprint race finishes between Wes Good, Boyd Whiteoak, and Mark Nelson in the expert field and Matt Losen taking the wins for the novice middleweights. Shane Larson and Nick Olsen took the wins in Ultralight, Jace Porter and Chuck Dahlheimer in Lightweight. Corey Schweich pulled out a win in Heavyweight Supersport.

Saturday evening featured a pitbike race on the BIR go-kart track. With a half block long Le Mans start to wind the riders they still performed great knee-down 50cc turns and foot out scooter slides. Wes Good’s team pulled out the 20 lap win but since the fans were still screaming for more they turned the bikes around and ran another 6 lap expo race in reverse direction.

Sunday prior to lunch a “Ride with a Racer” took place, allowing a passenger to experience a sense of what it feels like to take a lap at speed. Boyd Whiteoak took the winning fan for lap of BIR that I’m sure they’ll never forget.

Sunday September 11 was the annual 5 hour endurance race around BIR’s 3 mile track. With everything from EX500 and SV650 to GSXR 1000’s spending lap after lap turning into the infamous turn one at triple digit speeds. In the end the team of Wes Good and Boyd Whiteoak on a GSXR750 and sponsored by Dunlop 24 7, Cities Edge, Midwest Tire Service, and Blown Concepts won over the GSXR 1000 team of Chad Bakkene, Jason Jenkins, Mark Nelson, and Jeff Kramer sponsored by www.314racing.com; Bakkene Tax Service; JackAss Racing; Nelson Body Repair and Jenkins Racing. The first two teams were only separated by 10 seconds when the five hours came to an end and both set a new CRA record by completing 165 laps.

For the next round of racing, CRA is planning a huge, special finale for the season, which will challenge racers from all parts of the USA that will be held at Midamerica Motorplex (Council Bluffs, IA), October 15-16, 2005. For this round of racing, the CRA is reciprocating race licenses. If you hold a valid race license with any sanctioned motorcycle racing organization, including MRA, CCS, WERA, AMA, you are welcome to come race this event!
