WSMC will move the Toyota 200 from the third Sunday in October to the third Sunday in September for 2006. The move came after two straight years of rain falling on the October race date. The change will reduce the chances of rain for the 2006 race and will also eliminate a date conflict with the WERA GNF and Suzuki Cup Finals held at Road Atlanta each October. The Toyota 200 has paid $50,000 to win since it was established four years ago. The 2006 race weekend will be September 15-16-17 and will also include the Roadracing World 250/50 race for 250cc Grand Prix racebikes. Upgrades to the track’s computerized timing and scoring, including a back-up system, are expected to be in place by then.
