More, from a press release issued by Team Velocity Racing:

Heather Hunter Joins TVR Rider Development Team

TVR’s Ivey working to develop potential in promising new motorcycle road racers

LEEDS, Ala.—Team Velocity Racing (TVR) will have an additional entry during this weekend’s WERA Southeast races at Barber Motorsports Park, as Heather Hunter makes her racing debut onboard the TVR Yamaha YZF-R3. It is part of TVR’s rider development program, which seeks to identify and develop the potential of talented new motorcycle road racers.

TVR owner Chuck Ivey has been racing for nearly two decades, and he is driven to help the next generation of riders develop their potential through a complete program that includes trackside coaching, focused training and a customized nutrition plan.

“Heather is a really motivated racer,” said Ivey. “She has the drive to put in the training and she’s eager to learn more about the craft of racing, and those are key things I look for in a potential rider. She also displays a high level of excitement for motorcycles and racing, and that enthusiasm really translates to her fans and supporters.”

Hunter, of Marietta, Ga., will be riding the Yamaha Blu Cru R3 in several classes at Barber. The 28-year-old attended racing school last summer and has participated in a lot of track days with organizations like N2, and she is eager for her first full-fledged race weekend.

Hunter knows exactly what she wants to accomplish as a TVR rider. She said, “I want to be able to feel confident going onto the track. My lines will be good, I’ll be a predictable and smooth rider, and I really want to grow my skills. I know how to ride a motorcycle and get around the track, but I want the knowledge and skills to do it smoothly.”

Ivey has a similar outlook, saying, “Barber will be our opportunity to get baseline settings and to gauge where we take the training for the remainder of the season. Long-term, we want to see improvement each weekend on track through a customized coaching program.”

As someone who has been a grid marshal for WERA and an umbrella girl for a number of races, including Moto2 and Moto3 at Circuit of the Americas, Hunter is no stranger to the grid. She also travels with Team Westby as an umbrella girl. “I’m used to being on the other side of things, so it definitely will be interesting to be swapping spots!” she said.

Fans can keep up with Hunter’s racing via Instagram (@hjhunter89), Facebook (wildfiremoto926) and YouTube (Wildfire Moto).

TVR and its riders are supported by Yamaha, Yamalube, Podium Motorsports, Pirelli, Vortex, VP Racing Fuel, Arai, N2 and ONE-X. [email protected]
