Team Vallely Victorious In Team Challenge Motorcycle Races Kick Off Biketoberfest Events At Daytona International Speedway DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., (Oct. 21, 2005) — Team Vallely Racing of nearby Flagler Beach, Fla., swept the top two overall spots in Friday’s Team Challenge Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The trio of Mark Crozier, Shawn Conrad and Joe Ribeiro rode the No. 6 Suzuki to a commanding victory while the team’s sister bike the No. 298 Suzuki with riders Adam Donnelly and Ryan Patterson took runner-up honors. John Linder delivered a solo third-place finish. Team Vallely earned another trophy in the Team Challenge event with the all-female team of Nicole Hoffman, a NASCAR employee, and Rhianon Locente, which took second-place honors in GT lights. A pair of red flags during the two hour, 15 minute event turned out to be an advantage for Team Vallely’s winning No. 6 entry. “We actually had a really good race,” said Crozier, who resides in Palm Coast. “Everything worked out. The tires were awesome. The pit crew did a great job. We really didn’t have any big moments. We got out to a good lead in the beginning. We had a few red flags but we were able to overcome the red flags. During the red flags, we put some new tires on. We didn’t have to bother with pit stops today. That worked out really good and made my job a lot easier.” The victory was a long time coming for Crozier, who has never been able to crack the gates of Gatorade Victory Lane at Daytona. “This is the first time that I’ve been in Victory Lane at Daytona,” Crozier said. “I’ve been on the podiums several times all over but Daytona has always been bittersweet. I always do pretty well but usually miss the podium by one spot. This is the first time I’m on the podium and I’m real happy to be here.” Shaw Riding High On Gobert’s Yamaha: Rick Shaw, the mileage record holder for the Daytona 200 By Honda, says he’ll be back in 2006 for the 65th Daytona 200 By Honda. Shaw, a native of Miami, Fla., purchased a former Aaron Gobert factory Yamaha motorcycle and is riding it during this weekend’s Fall Cycle Scene events. “This bike is absolutely beautiful,” Shaw said. “Yamaha got their act together when they built this bike. It was prepared by Yamaha Racing and I just picked it up a couple of days ago. I’m still learning the bike and it’s very easy to ride. If I don’t finish up in the winner’s circle, it’s going to be me, not the bike.” Shaw was also excited about the repaving of a good portion of the infield road course. “The new infield pavement is so incredibly smooth,” Shaw said. “There are no bumps going in to the horseshoe, the bike is real stable going in. The traction all the way through it makes it real nice.” Tickets: Fall Cycle Scene as well as Kickstand City continues at the Speedway on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the Speedway or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP. Provisional Overall Team Challenge Results (Solo class racers are only scored in class, not in the overall race results: 1.
