TrueSports, Inc., which owns and operates the Mid-Ohio School at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, today announced plans to add motorcycle riding instruction to its curriculum with the launch of the Mid-Ohio Motorcycle Riding School in April 2006. The school will include Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Beginning and Experienced rider courses, as well as advanced cornering and performance track riding programs. “The addition of motorcycle instruction will make Mid-Ohio School the first motorsports school of its kind in the country offering both riding and driving programs,” said Mid-Ohio Media & Communications Manager Scott Reisz. “The Mid-Ohio Motorcycle Riding School will be operated in partnership with Motorcycle Riding School, of Chicago, Illinois, and Sportbike Track Time, of Delta, Ohio, two of the country’s premier rider instruction firms.” “We’ve spent the last, I’d say, three to five years evaluating what the strong aspects of our business are, as we plan for our future,” said Michele Trueman-Gajoch, President of TrueSports, Inc. “And time and time again, motorcycling, in general, has become very important in that process and more and more evident that it really needs to be a priority in our long-range planning and thinking. “As part of that, we’ve had tremendous success and growth with our school as a whole. Doing the research that we have done, that Steve (Bidlack, Director of the Mid-Ohio School) has done, we’ve discovered there’s certainly a need for, particularly, the motorcycle training aspect of this within the state of Ohio with the large number of bike owners and such. So it was really a natural addition to what our plans are as far as expanding our whole relationship with the motorcycle industry.” The MSF Beginning and Experienced riding courses will be conducted on a “paddock riding range,” as will the advanced cornering instruction. Only the performance track riding instruction will happen on the racetrack. The performance track riding portion of the school will have the Mid-Ohio road course exclusively on its days during 2006, but in the future, Bidlack plans to operate car instruction on one part of the track and motorcycle instruction on another part of the track, thanks to new connectors being constructed to divide the road course into separate sections.
