David Lambert (Kaw ZX-10R), 1:47.323 More, from a press release issued by Parts Unlimited Ducati: RAIN FOILS QUALIFYING FOR PARTS UNLIMITED DUCATI TEAM Sonoma (California) 19 May 2006: The Parts Unlimited Ducati Team saw their Friday race schedule interrupted by rain at Infineon Raceway. Although the racers were able to participate in morning practice on board their Ducati 999 Superbikes, qualifying was cancelled due to safety concerns because of the wet conditions. Even if most international racetracks host competition rain or shine, some of the American circuits suspend the action in wet weather, as was the case on Friday. “It’s the first time this has happened to me here in the States,” said Neil Hodgson, fourth quickest in morning practice with a time of 1:37.422. Hodgson was third quickest for much of the hour on the track. “I’ve heard stories about this thing before but it’s never happened in my time over here. It’s a little frustrating because I’ve come here to race. The session went well, trying some different things on Friday morning as we always do. I feel quite comfortable on this track. It’s physical and I do a lot of training, so I think that helps. The track is tight and with lots of backmarkers, so it makes it difficult. You can’t wait and have to be aggressive.” Ben Bostrom ran well in Friday practice, although the local rider chose not to put on a soft tire and cut a hot lap at the end. “We were starting to get in a groove out there, up to third at one point in the session. I felt like things were picking up at Fontana and that was the case today,” said Bostrom. “We didn’t do a fast lap but we did the most important thing, which was ride the bike. Things are looking up and up, we just hope the weather cooperates.” Bostrom’s best lap time was 1:38.379. Final qualifying and the first Superbike race are scheduled for Saturday. Practice Times: 1. Mat Mladin, Suzuki 1:36.124 2. Ben Spies, Suzuki 1:36.967 3. 1:37.285 3. Aaron Yates, Suzuki 1:37.285 4. Neil Hodgson, Parts Unlimited Ducati 1:37.422 5.Tommy Hayden, Kawasaki 1:37.591 6.
