Yamaha’s Jason DiSalvo highsided his YZF-R1 during a WERA West race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Sunday, then flew to Atlanta for AMA team tests scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Road Atlanta. DiSalvo crashed in the transition between the banking and the infield at LVMS during the Formula One race, the last event of the day. According to his father, Jim DiSalvo, Jason DiSalvo jammed a thumb and suffered general bruising, without any structural damage. The younger DiSalvo took an overnight flight from Las Vegas to Atlanta, according to his father. This update just in from Jason DiSalvo, via cell phone: “It was a big crash, but I guess I kind of have a knack for walking away from those kind of things. I don’t know if it’s because I have a good crash technique or what. It was coming onto the back straightaway, (the sweeper coming onto the banking), top of 4th gear, moving along pretty fast. The bike got the worst of it. I’m a little bruised and battered but I’ll be 100% for tommorrow’s testing at Atlanta.”
