Toye Stars In WERA West Finale At Vegas

Jeremy Toye won both Formula One and both Open Superbike races as the WERA West Pirelli Sportsman Series presented by Lucas Oil wrapped up its 2013 season with a doubleheader event at the Las Vegas Classic Course on November 2nd and 3rd.

Riding his Roadracingworld.com-backed, Lee’s Cycle Service-developed Kawasaki ZX-10R, Toye turned a 1:16.412 in Saturday’s Formula One race en route to an 11.455-second win over Shawn Higbee, aboard the carbon-fiber Moto2 bike built by TaylorMade Racing. Kawasaki Motor Corp. U.S. R&D rider Derek Keyes was third aboard his ZX-10R.

In Sunday’s Formula One race, Toye was even faster, taking the Pirelli-shod ZX-10R to a 1:15.812 lap en route to another 11-second margin of victory, this time over Corey Sarros aboard his Suzuki GSX-R1000. Aaron Ascher took third aboard his Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Toye also took both Open Superbike wins, leading Daytona 200 winner Joey Pascarella and Sarros home in both races.

Pascarella, aboard a Yamaha YZF-R6, took the B Superbike win on Saturday, then won C Superstock, C Superbike and B Superbike on Sunday. Keyes took both wins in Open Superstock, while Ascher won both Senior Superbike Heavyweight races.

AMA Pro Road Racing competitor Melissa Paris showed up on a Honda CBR1000RR and podiumed in the Open Superstock races, while winning the Womens Superstock events.

Pascarella and Toye Take Home Multiple Wins in the Best of the West Championship

Joey Pascarella and Jeremy Toye both took home multiple class and overall championships at the Best of the West event held this past weekend in Las Vegas during the final round of 2013 for the WERA West Pirelli Sportsman Series presented by Lucas Oil on November 2-3, 2013.

Gorgeous weather with temperatures in the 70’s made for fast lap times on the Classic Course, and at the end of two days of racing, new champions were crowned. Jeremy Toye turning a fastest lap of the weekend in Sunday’s Formula 1 race of 1:15.812 aboard his Roadracingworld.com-backed, Lee’s Cycle Service-developed Kawasaki ZX-10R on his way to winning the class championships for the Best of the West in both Formula 1 and Open Superbike, and capturing the Overall Heavyweight Champion title.

Joey Pascarella turned a 1:16.387 for his fastest lap of the weekend on his Yamaha YZF-R6 on his way to winning 600 Superbike. Pascarella went on to take the Best of the West Class championships for 600 Superbike and 750 Superbike, and the Overall Middleweight championship.

AMA Pro Melissa Paris rode a borrowed 2008 Honda CBR1000RR for the weekend and ran a fastest lap of 1:17.926 on her way winning the Open Twins/Formula Femme class championship, and taking an additional podium in the Formula 1 class championship with a 3rd place finish. Paris also tied with Corey Sarros for 2nd place in the Overall Heavyweight championship.

Aaron Ascher defended his 2012 class title, sweeping both Formula 40 Heavyweight races for the 2013 class championship. The Formula Sidecar team of Chris Wood/Aaron McEwen edged the Donn Sayre/John Heenan team by .439 for the win and the class championship in Formula Sidecars. Jeremy Coffey took his Kawasaki 250R to multiple class wins, giving him the Overall Lightweight Championship.
