M1 Powersports, which signed up to promote AMA Pro events at Road Atlanta, Homestead-Miami and NOLA Motorsports Park this season, was handing out “Save The Date” cards in Homestead last weekend. The cards listed the dates for next year’s Big Kahuna Miami as being April 5-7, 2013, a time of year that is supposed to be less prone to rain and thunderstorms. The cards got us thinking about other 2013 event dates on the schedule, and a quick review of other information we’ve gathered, a look at racetrack press releases issued to date and a check of racetrack websites revealed five other likely dates on the 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Series schedule, plus one potential event (at Miller Motorsports Park) narrowed down to a month but not a specific weekend. Here’s what we’ve found so far. 3/14-16, Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida 4/5-7, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Homestead, Florida 5/31,6/1-2, Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin 7/19-21, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, California (With MotoGP) (AMA Pro classes TBA) 8/TBA, Miller Motorsports Park, Tooele, Utah 9/27-29, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, California (With World Superbike)(AMA Pro classes TBA) 10/4-6, NOLA Motorsports Park, Avondale, Louisiana The confirmed 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing schedule may be announced at the 2012 Awards Banquet, scheduled for Monday, October 8 in New Orleans, the day after the 2012 season finale.
