Woodland Hills, CA. – Team Sheriff Racing is very pleased to announce that we will be continuing our “Beat The Heat” program for 2006. “Beat The Heat” is a rider education program designed to introduce riders to the track environment, while also educating them about the dangers of illegal street racing and canyon riding. “Our ‘Beat The Heat’ trackday was such a success last year, that we’re really excited to be able to continue them for 2006.” said Deputy Mike Churney. “The response of the motorcycling community to the first set of ‘Beat The Heat” trackdays was so immense, that we’ve been hard at work making sure that more trackdays would be available for this year. We’ve received such great responses from the riders that participated last year, and a large number of inquiries for this year, showing how successful these trackdays were and we hope to continue making them so.” “We’re really pleased that it’s worked out so well. Our whole goal has been to educate riders about the dangers of pushing it on the street and to expose them to the track environment.” said Mike. “This program has been so well received, that we’ve even seen other law enforcement agencies and programs following our lead and implementing similar trackday programs, which is fantastic. The more opportunities we can create for the street rider to get out to the track, the better. We’d really like to see more agencies across the country follow suit, focusing more on education and intervention. It shouldn’t be limited to just here on the West coast.” We have partnered with Take It 2 The Track and MTC Trackday for 2006, and will be offering numerous trackdays, starting in the spring and running through the end of the year, at varying locations across California and Nevada. There won’t be any changes to the format, other than to improve on instruction, rider education, and track safety. “Although those of us on the team have riding and racing experience, and are always willing to help new riders in any way we can, we also realize that we’re professional crime fighters, and not professional instructors.” said Mike. “That’s why we leave the instruction to the pros. We will continue to have instructors from the track day organizers (that are certified MSF instructors), as well as expert level club racers. We’ll even have the assistance from some AMA pro riders who will be on hand to help provide some one on one instruction for those that would like it.” Representatives from sponsors and vendors will also be on hand to help riders and answer questions on anything from riding gear to suspension setup. Our first “Beat The Heat” trackday will be February 21st, 2006, at Willow Springs Int’l Raceway’s Streets of Willow track. Thanks to the help of the sponsors and Motorcycle Training Center, Chatterbox USA, and Xtreme GP, the price for this trackday has been reduced to $50, the same as 2005. This day is available only to first time track riders. No licensed racers or track day regulars will be allowed. Also, only street-legal bikes will be allowed. No racebikes or track plastics. As always, lunch will be provided. Kushitani Leathers will have rental suits available as well. We will also have a raffle during the event. Interested persons should log on to www.mtctrackday.com or call 818-932-0433 to register today as registration is limited. There will be no walk-ups and no late registration.
