Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. is recalling 2004-2013 GSX-R600s and GSX-R750s and 2005-2013 GSX-R1000s due to potential problems with their Nissin front brake master cylinders, according to a recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA Campaign Number 13V449000). The recall potentially affects 210,228 vehicles. A combination of older brake fluid and corrosion inside the front brake master cylinder generates hydrogen gas that may result in a reduction of fluid pressure transmission to the front brake calipers, according to the notice. This could result in a loss of front braking power, increased stopping distances and the risk of a crash. Suzuki plans to notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder free of charge. Owners may contact Suzuki at (800) 572-1490. The recall begins November 4, 2013.
