Former AMA Superbike star Mike Smith rode his Michelin-shod Cycle City Power Sports Suzuki to the win in Sunday’s Suzuki GSX-R600 Cup Final at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia.
Smith came from behind to catch and pass Arclight Suzuki’s Jeff Wood, who led for the first eight laps, to take the win. Wood was also overtaken in the late stages by Corona Extra Suzuki’s Brent George, former Suzuki Cup Champion Lee Acree and George’s teammate Russell Holland. Wood finished a very close fifth, with 1.3 seconds separating the top five at the checkered flag.
