MID-OHIO PARTNERS WITH ROADRACING WORLD ACTION FUND ON RIDER SAFETY Action Fund will supply Mid-Ohio with Airfence™ soft barriers in July LEXINGTON, OHIO (July 12, 2013) – The Roadracing World Action Fund has partnered with Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to supply the track with additional Airfence™ soft barriers for the track’s motorcycle events in July. Twenty-six Airfence™ soft barriers were deployed this week at Mid-Ohio, for use at the track from July 12 through July 21. During that time, Mid-Ohio hosts AMA Pro Road Racing for the Buckeye SuperBike Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire, two Performance Track Riding dates through The Mid-Ohio School, the WERA Sportsman Series and AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. “The Roadracing World Action Fund has stepped up to assist us with Airfences for our busy bike season in July.” said Craig Rust, Mid-Ohio president. “This is a very important partnership for us and we wouldn’t be able to execute these back-to-back events without the additional barriers.” The pre-inflated soft barriers are positioned in front of walls and barriers to help reduce the impact in the event a rider crashes. “We’re happy to assist Mid-Ohio with the additional soft barriers needed above and beyond the 50 Airfence sections deployed by AMA Pro Racing,” said John Ulrich, founder and president of the Roadracing World Action Fund. “The purpose of the Roadracing World Action Fund is to help improve rider safety and deploying 26 additional sections — 780 linear feet — of Airfence brand soft barriers will make a significant difference. We’d like to thank all the people who have contributed to the Roadracing World Action Fund for making this and other deployments possible.” The Roadracing World Action Fund’s mission is to prevent race track injuries. To accomplish our mission, we will promote motorcycle racing safety and education. Specifically, the Roadracing World Action Fund advocates and promotes the use of soft barriers to prevent racetrack injuries. A comprehensive motorsports facility, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course features a permanent road-racing circuit with two primary configurations: a 2.4-mile, 15 turn, and a 2.25- mile, 13-turn circuit. The park-like, 330-acre complex is located in Lexington, Ohio, near Mansfield, 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland. The track has been called the most competitive course in the U.S. and annually hosts a diverse lineup of locally, regionally and nationally sanctioned racing events for amateur, club and professional drivers and riders. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course opened in 1962 and is owned and operated by Green Savoree Mid-Ohio, LLC.
