Road America is replacing the Corvette Bridge over the entrance to Turn Six of the 14-turn, 4.0-mile road course located near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. By replacing the bridge, the opening that race traffic passes through will be larger and the width of the bridge itself will be greater, resulting in better access for fans to a newly-created viewing area adjacent to the new bridge, according to Road America Communications Director John Ewert. In addition, the concrete K-rail barriers outside of the run-off zone at Turn Six have been replaced with steel barriers, and the concrete K-rails barriers outside of Turns Seven and Eight have been pushed back, creating more run-off room. All of the work is part of Road America’s ongoing plan to provide improvements to the 50-plus-year-old facility to enhance the experience of fans and participants, according to Ewert. Road America will host a round of the GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing series May 30-June 1, 2014.
