Rizla Suzuki racing at Assen World Superbikes RIZLA SUZUKI will race in the double-header ninth round of the World Superbike Championship at Assen on September 4th with Dutch ace Jurgen Van Den Goorbergh as a wild card entry. The 3.726-mile long Assen TT circuit is home for the 35-year-old Jurgen who will make his World Superbike debut on the Rizla Suzuki. As a one-man team for this event, he will use a GSX-R1000 normally used by Rizla Suzuki’s regular riders reigning British Champion John Reynolds and team mate James Haydon in the British Superbike Championship. With a long and distinguished career in Grand Prix, Jurgen is aiming for podium results at Assen. Without a permanent ride in 2005, he has raced in select World Supersport rounds and was invited to stand in for the injured Makota Tamada in MotoGP, taking an impressive sixth place in China. Assen WSB is popular with the British crowds and will be televised live on British Eurosport as well as benefiting from delayed highlights on Channel 4. The Superbike action starts at noon on Sunday, September 4th. Jurgen: “This is a great opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to making my debut in World Superbikes at my home track in front of my home fans. “Suzuki Netherlands asked me if I would be interested in racing at Assen. I said I would – but only if it was on a competitive bike. A competitive Dutch rider is also likely to bring more fans to the Assen circuit for the event.
