Yamaha Introduces 2017 Off-Road Motorcycle Lineup for bLU cRU Riders!

Cypress, CA – June 8, 2016 – Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., is pleased to introduce its 2017 lineup of Off-Road motorcycles, including the YZ450FX, YZ250FX, WR450F, WR250F, and YZ250X for all bLU cRU riders.

The lightweight and powerful YZ250FX has received numerous upgrades and improvements for 2017 including a new cylinder head featuring revised intake geometry for additional downdraft effect, which is matched to a shorter intake funnel in the airbox for improved top-end power. Inside the head, more aggressive camshaft profiles and valve springs boost output even further for 2017, while larger valve seats ensure excellent sealing and reliability.

Also, a new lightweight, forged two-ring piston uses a flat piston crown surface with additional strengthening ribs and a shorter, more durable piston pin with diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating. The new piston is lighter and stronger, and together with revised EFI mapping, improves combustion performance which results in excellent pulling power.

The 2017 YZ250FX’s crankshaft and counterbalancer feature a revised balance ratio, for more predictive power delivery and reduced vibration and a new nickel-chromoly, steel connecting rod offers additional durability to handle the increased power output, and the crankcase features a new heat-treating process, which increases strength.

For added protection of the bike’s frame, the 2017 YZ250FX has a new, rugged, plastic skid plate. Also for 2017, the YZ250FX has a new 270mm front brake rotor (up from 250mm) and new front brake-pad material for exceptional stopping power and and performance.

Both front and rear dampers on the 2017 YZ250FX feature new, optimized settings to further boost overall suspension performance, while the front forks utilize an improved, stronger oil-seal system for enhanced durability.

A new WR®-style fuel-level sensor in the 2017 YZ250FX’s fuel tank combines with new fuel level and engine-warning indicators on the handlebars to provide ultimate convenience.

The 2017 YZ250FX will be available in Team Yamaha Blue at a suggested retail price of $7,999. Bikes will arrive in Yamaha dealerships beginning in August.

For 2017, big brother to the YZ250FX, Yamaha’s GNCC® and Hare Scrambles-conquering YZ450FX, also receives new, optimized settings on both the front and rear dampers, which further boost overall suspension performance. The front forks feature a new and improved, stronger oil seal system for enhanced durability.

A redesigned air cleaner cover on the 2017 YZ450FX provides tool-less access to the air filter, which is positioned at the front of the bike to avoid roost from the rear wheel. And, a new WR®-style fuel-level sensor in the 2017 YZ450FX’s fuel tank combines with new fuel-level and engine-warning indicators on the handlebars to provide ultimate convenience.

The 2017 YZ450FX will be available in Team Yamaha Blue and will retail for $8,999. Beginning in August, the bike will be available in Yamaha dealerships nationwide.

The 2017 WR450F is equipped with the YZ450F’s revolutionary, rearward-slanted-cylinder design, with a reversed cylinder head and forward-positioned, straight intake. The WR450F has an enduro-specific exhaust silencer, an electric starter and main-switch-free electrical system, and an ECU tuned specifically for enduro racing. In addition, a wide-ratio five-speed transmission and enduro-specific multiplate clutch are ideal for the rigors of tight woods riding and racing.

The 2017 WR450F will be available in Team Yamaha Blue, at a suggested retail price of $9,099 and will available in Yamaha dealerships nationwide beginning in July.

The lightweight, agile-handling WR250F returns for 2017 in Team Yamaha Blue and will retail for $8,099, with availability at dealerships beginning in July.

And finally, the two stroke YZ250X, another of Yamaha’s off-road racers that is designed, engineered, and developed specifically for GNCC® and Hare Scrambles competition, returns for 2017, as well.

The ultra-lightweight YZ250-spec frame is a carefully engineered combination of aluminum castings, forgings, and extrusions that provide the perfect balance of rigidity and flex, and a fully adjustable, speed-sensitive, KYB® suspension has been tuned specifically for the needs of cross-country racers.

The 2017 YZ250X will be available in Team Yamaha Blue and will retail for $7,499. Beginning in August, the bike will be available in Yamaha dealerships nationwide.
