Fernando Alonso, the 2005 FIA Formula One car racing Champion was quoted in a BBC article today as saying he could finish on the podium of a MotoGP event if given enough practice. Evidently, Alonso, who drives for Renault, was asked by the BBC for his opinion of the driving ability shown by seven-time motorcycle road racing World Champion Valentino Rossi during his first multi-team F1 test at Valencia. Rossi drove a 2004-spec Ferrari at the test. “Until we see him race we won’t know his true potential, but it will be very difficult for him,” Alonso was quoted as saying in the BBC report. “He might finish fifth or even get on the podium some time, but I could do the same on the bikes if I was given a bit of time to practice.” ~http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/4722304.stm~
