Jason Duplantis Racing Scores Two Podium Finishes at Roebling WERA National.

Pooler, GA  – Jason Duplantis achieve a best result of 2nd place in the WERA Sportsman Series 750 Superbike race at Roebling Road this weekend. He then followed it up with a 3rd place finish in the 600 Superbike race. This is the first podium finish of the year for Jason Duplantis Racing.

After suffering several issues in launching the bike at the Championship Cup Series event the previous weekend, Duplantis took his R6 Superbike to KWS Motorsports. KWS has been a longtime supporter and KWS technician Michael Godin quickly sorted out the problem. Duplantis tested the fix and declared himself ready for the WERA National at Roebling Road Raceway.

The first race was the Expert 600 Superbike race. During the morning practice Jason practiced starts, and was relieved that the bike was working as perfectly. Nerves got the best of Duplantis and he had a large wheelie at the start. This put him 9th going into turn 1. Duplantis put his head down and passed 6 riders over the next 7 laps. In the end, Jason ran out of time and finished a lonely third place with not enough laps to catch the leaders.

The next race of the weekend was the Expert 750 Superbike event. This was Jason’s last race of the day/ weekend and really wanted to push for another podium finish. Jason entered turn 1 in 7th position. Within the first two laps he had moved into third position, but was nearly 5 seconds behind first and second place. Always the fighter, Jason put his head down and closed the gap on second place, with only one lap to go. He then made a great pass in the final corner to secure 2nd place after a well fought race.

Jason Duplantis – “What a fun day of racing! We made some improvements with electronics to help with launching the bike, but I still have lots of work to do. Coming through the field is a tough way to race. I’m really proud of the 750 Superbike race, I could have easily settled for third but I dug deep and finished strong. I want to thank Millennium Technologies, KWS Motorsports, Velocity Powersports, Ballistic Performance Components, my wife Emily, and all of the sponsors for their support. I will continue to work on my race craft, and get better every weekend. I would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Michael Sanders and Mike Moree, for their help this weekend.

More, from a press release issued by Jimmy Merck’s publicist:

JIMMY MERCK TWO FOR TWO AT ROEBLING ROAD

Atlanta, Georgia’s Jimmy Merck enjoyed a great weekend of racing at Roebling Road in Faulkville, Georgia. The weekend marked WERA’s first National Event, with a combined racing schedule of Friday Practice, Saturday Regional action, and Sunday’s Nationals. The weather looked great Friday and Saturday, with a threat of rain on Sunday. With only two race entries for the weekend, and both on Sunday for the Nationals, the pressure was on.

Friday’s practice went smooth, with lap times in the 1:12 range. The final event of the day was 600 Superstock qualifying, where four riders were within .6 seconds of each other’s lap times, with Merck second .293 back. Saturday brought sunshine, with practice in the morning and regional sprints in the afternoon.

Sunday’s practice sessions were ridden in cloudy and a bit chillier temperatures with the threat of rain looming. Up first for Jimmy was 600 Superstock, where after a great start and consistent lap times, Jimmy came out on top with the win by just over 10 seconds.

Up next was 750 Superstock. Dunlops were sticky and the bike was on rails – Merck went on for the win by 19 seconds. All the hard work in the off-season is paying off!

Jimmy would like to thank Robert Ross with Mountain Motorsports in Marietta and welcome them on board! Jimmy is proud to work with Mark with Vesrah, Mountain Motorsports, Dunlop and Race Tire Services, Graves Exhaust, Livengood, Traxxion Dynamics, Silkolene Oils, Shoei Helmets, Chris with MPH, Vortex Sprockets, Pit Bull, Cycle Gear, his father Jimmy SR, and girlfriend Bobby.
