R.I.P. John McLaughlin

Former racer John McLaughlin, 82, died February 28 in Southern California from complications from an injury suffered in January. McLaughlin was best known as an accomplished racer and won the Catalina Grand Prix and the Big Bear Run over 40 years ago. In 1954, he founded the AFM, which was the first FIM affiliate in the United States; McLaughlin is also in the AMA Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginger” McLaughlin: a daughter, Erin Bickle; and his son, former racer Steve McLaughlin. More details will be posted as they become available.
