In four weeks, RBoM Racing will host another small bike challenge at VIR (Virginia International Raceway), near Danville, Virginia, in conjunction with the upcoming WERA Sportsman/National weekend on August 6-7, 2016.

As a follow up to last year’s RBoM SV Challenge, which had over 30 SV650 entrants, the rules will be opened up a bit this year to allow a few more Lightweight Twin competitors into the mix. Perhaps a few Yamaha FZ-07’s will make it out this year to see how it stacks up against the class favorite and basically vintage Suzuki SV650.

Any bike that meets WERA’s LWT SB rule requirements is also eligible, which could include the Kawasaki EX500/650, Ducati 800SS, and other Twins that meet the rules. There is even a rumor of a highly developed Honda GT647 Hawk being dusted off just for this one event.

Total purse payout will increase to $4800 this year, the winner taking home $1500 and payback to 15th place in the main event.

Class rules can be found on the WERA website (wera.com) and other info is ongoing on the WERA Bulletin Board (http://forums.13x.com/index.php?threads/2016-rbom-lw-twins-sbk-showdown-vir-8-7-16.332402/).

Sunday’s Showdown will be gridded, like last year, based on finishing results from the Saturday LWT SB Sportsman series race (like a heat race for those wanting to improve their grid position for Sunday).

For the serious competitor who thinks they can win some Sunday money, there is a trackday/practice day on Friday August 5th hosted by N2 Trackdays.

All expert level racers from any recognized racing organization are eligible to participate. WERA will waive their license fee for this one event and will supply a rental AMB Transponder, at no charge, to those who don’t own one.

Some talented kids, in additional to some veteran racers, are expected to put on a good show, so make your plans accordingly.
