Presentation of the 2015 Calendar

Creation of a new SuperTwin class for Endurance

The FIM Road-Racing Commission presented this afternoon to all the teams entered in the 24 Heures Moto at Le Mans, final of the FIM Endurance World Championship, the main ideas for 2015 to be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the FIM Commission at the end of September.

Among the major changes for the 2015 Regulations is the creation of a new class and a FIM SuperTwin Endurance Trophy. This class would allow twin-cylinder machines to enter the Endurance events and would be governed by relatively flexible technical regulations. This new class would help to bring more new teams into the FIM Endurance World Championship.

At this meeting, the CCR also presented the 2015 FIM Endurance World Championship Calendar. It features five races starting with the 24 Heures Moto, which is returning to its traditional dates at the start of the season, and ending with the Bol d’Or. The next 24 Heures Moto will take place on 18 and 19 Avril 2015 while the Bol d’Or, which will be returning to Le Castellet (5.8 km), will be held on 19 and 20 September. The last Bol d’Or on the Paul Ricard circuit in the South of France was in September 1999. There will be a new event in 2015, the 12 Hours of Magny-Cours, scheduled on 6 and 7 June on the circuit close to Nevers. This new event could usher in a new format (twice 6 hours of racing). The Suzuka 8 Hours at the end of July and the 8 Hours of Oschersleben in August remain classic events of the 2015 FIM Endurance World Championship. Negotiations are under way for a sixth event. Discussions are being held with Estoril (Portugal) for a race in May or October, Zolder (Belgium) for an event on 4 or 5 July and with the Slovakia Ring (Slovakia) for May 2015.
