Pirelli Extends Partnership with ASRA National Sprint Series for 2018
Riders Competing with DIABLO™ SUPERCORSA and DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE Tires May Qualify to Win Prizes
ROME, Ga. (January 30, 2018) Pirelli Tire North America (Pirelli) has announced that it will continue as a title sponsor of the ASRA National Sprint Series, which is held in conjunction with the Championship Cup Series (CCS). The 2018 series will consist of eight rounds, taking place at some of the most famed race tracks across North America, beginning with the season opener at Daytona International Speedway on March 16-18 for the 77th annual Daytona 200.
“Everyone at Pirelli is excited to be working with the ASRA again in 2018,” said Oscar Solis, road racing manager, Pirelli. “It’s great to see riders of all levels participating in the series, from novices all the way up to track record holders. It’s a nice partnership and we’re glad to be able to provide a great lineup of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa and Superbike race tires.”
Originally, the ASRA only featured expert level race classes when it introduced its first full season in 2006. In 2011 the ASRA National Sprint Series restructured and opened up competition to amateurs, adding classes for riders of all skill levels. The change was made in an effort to make the series a stepping-stone to the professional ranks and for enthusiasts who are looking to further advance themselves in the ranks of motorcycle racing.
Since 2004, Pirelli has served as the official tire supplier of the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship, using its partnership as a development platform for the DIABLO™ SUPERCORSA and DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE tires. Those same tires are now available to ASRA racers and riders throughout the nation, reinforcing the brand’s “We Race What We Sell” philosophy.
The ASRA National Sprint Series will allow racers who are competing with Pirelli race compound tires to qualify for the recently launched “Pirelli Nation” bounty program that includes prizes for 1000, 600 and 300cc classes.
