Performance Riding Experience (P.R.E.) Announces Fundraising Effort to Purchase Soft Barriers for Virginia International Raceway

New motorcycle track day organization Performance Riding Experience formally announced their intention to mount a fundraising campaign to purchase additional Airfence Bike soft barriers for VIR at their event held at the track on June 26 -28.

The principals of P.R.E have been actively involved in fundraising for this worthy cause for the last several years. Those efforts have resulted in the placement of 30 sections of Airfence at Road Atlanta, and 30 sections of Airfence deployed to VIR, and the monies raised to date have exceeded $90,000. P.R.E hopes to raise enough money from their efforts in 2015 to add significantly to the deployment at VIR. These soft barriers will be stored on site and be available for use by all motorcycle track day and race organizations who utilize the track.

P.R.E will be holding a fundraiser at VIR South Course on the evening of June 27th beginning at 6:30 pm. The event coincides with their motorcycle track days being held at VIR on the 26th, 27th, and 28th, and will consist of a catered dinner followed by a live auction where many sponsor-donated items, including a table crafted from the famous VIR Oak Tree, will be sold to the highest bidder. Cost for dinner is $20 per person, and P.R.E. will also have commemorative T-shirts for sale for $20 each. One hundred percent of all monies raised will be donated to the Roadracing World Action Fund and designated for the purchase of soft barriers for use at VIR.

P.R.E. president and co-owner John Allen said, “We’re excited to be raising money for this worthy cause again. Airfence is expensive at about $200 a linear foot, but I have no doubt that the Airfence we are providing will one day save someone from life-threatening injuries, so in that regard, it’s cheap. At P.R.E. we feel it’s important for us to do all that we can to make our events safer, as well as make the track safer for the participants of other organizations too. We know we are making a difference, and everyone here is very proud of that.”

Allen went on to say “You don’t have to be riding at our event to attend the fundraiser on Saturday evening. You can just show up, have dinner with us, and participate in the auctions if you’d like. Of course we’d love to have anyone ride who is interested, too. We have a very special piece of VIR history that we will be auctioning off on Saturday evening, and I think there are a lot of people who might be interested in it. VIR generously donated a large slab of the iconic VIR Oak Tree that we built into a spectacular coffee table. The base of the table is solid walnut, and the oak tree slab top has a walnut inlay of the Full Course. It is three and a half inches thick, and weighs about a hundred and fifty pounds. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind item that is just so cool to look at, and the history behind it only adds to its uniqueness.”

P.R.E. would like to thank all of the sponsors who are supporting this worthwhile effort and all of the individuals who have contributed their time and money to make this event possible. Sponsors include Virginia International Raceway, California Superbike School, Max Speed Cycles, Trackside Gear, First Light Restaurant, Fluidology, BW Tools, LLC., Trading Paint, Irish Racing, Sicilian Racing, Crosslin Racing, Cory Messerli, Swiftline Custom Coating, Next Level Fitness, Pierce Metals, Allen Properties, Inc., Western Power Sports, and Dunlop/Race Tire Service.
