N2 / WERA Announce Third Round for Superbike Challenge Endurance at VIR

Asbury, NJ – N2 Track Days and WERA Motorcycle Roadracing announced the Superbike Challenge Endurance series earlier this year and have added Virginia International Raceway as the third and final round for 2017.

Each endurance event will follow a three-day format and include both a 4-hour and 2-hour endurance race. Last year’s inaugural event was held at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (PIRC) with a 4-hour main event broken down into three classes – Heavyweight, Middleweight, and Lightweight – featuring a $10,000 purse divided equally among the top three finishes. With the growing popularity of smaller displacement machines, a 2-hour ultra-lightweight endurance race has been added to this year’s events.

Scott Rosey, N2 Race Manager comments, “I was very pleased to see the turnout at our first event held at Pittsburgh International Race Complex last year. I’ve been racing with WERA since 2005 and excited to see endurance making a comeback. If last year was any indication, this is going to be a great series in 2017 hosted at these world-class racetracks.”

The first round kicks off at New Jersey Motorsports Park during the Memorial Day weekend as part of NJMP’s “Festival of Speed”. As part of the festivities, the racetrack will close for a 2-hour period giving fans to a chance to the watch the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, perform at New Jersey Motorsports Park during the Millville Air Show.

Last year N2 and WERA Motorcycle Roadracing worked together at Pittsburgh and for 2017 that relationship is expanding to include three rounds – one at New Jersey Motorsports Park which will be a new venue for WERA, then on to Pittsburgh Motorsports Complex and finally N2 will join WERA at Virginia International Raceway. All three of these events will offer a Track/Practice Day and Rider’s School Friday hosted by N2, Saturday will see N2 and WERA join in putting on Endurance Racing and Sunday will be hosted by WERA and feature our Pirelli National Challenge Series combined with our WERA Sportsman Series. Working together gives riders who are track day riders the opportunity to see what motorcycle road racing is all about and a clear path on how to try it as well as giving WERA racers a new venue and an endurance format to try,” said WERA CEO Evelyne Clarke.

To pre-enter for the Endurance Races at any of these events you will need to download an Endurance Entry Form from the WERA web site (wera.com go to the “More” tab and click the “Forms” link) then complete the form and scan and attach it to an email to [email protected], fax it in to (770)720-5015, or mail it to us with payment. Riders who are not available to sign the pre-entry should be listed and they will need to sign the form at Registration at the event.

2017 Endurance Event Schedule
