MOTORPOINT RIDES INTO THE THIRD YEAR OF SUPERBIKES PARTNERSHIP Motorpoint, the UK’s leading car supermarket, has extended its title sponsorship of the British Supersport Championship, and full associate sponsorship of the MCE British Superbike Championship, into the 2014 season. The third consecutive year of the partnership with series promoter MotorSport Vision will once again see the car supermarket chain support the 12-event calendar, at iconic British tracks including Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park. The 2014 Motorpoint British Supersport Championship is certain to continue delivering spectacular racing which has become its hallmark in recent seasons. With 2013 Motorpoint Supersport champion Stuart Easton graduating to the Superbike class, the championship winning Martrain Yamaha team will be relying on series runner up Alistair Seeley to go one better and reclaim the crown he last won in 2011. His opposition in a high quality line up includes Glen Irwin and Luke Hedger (Gearlink Kawasaki), Greame Gowland and Billy McConnell (Smiths Triumph Factory team), Jake Dixon (Macadam Appleyard Yamaha) and Taylor Mackenzie (Tyco Suzuki). The starting grid has been further boosted in recent days by the announcement from music superstar Keith Flint of the Prodigy band, that his TTC Suzuki team will enter the series full time with rising USA prospect James Rispoli. In other key developments for the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, all twenty four races will be televised live by British Eurosport following series promoter MSVR confirming an extension of the event TV broadcasts, and the long term future of the class has been bolstered by a new technical category called Supersport EVO which will allow riders from the Junior categories to make the transition into the premier middleweight category much more easily. Announcing the sponsorship extension, Motorpoint Founder and Director, David Shelton, said: David “We are thrilled to continue our long-standing support of Motorpoint British Supersport and MCE British Superbikes for a third year, and with it provide a platform for the sport’s up and coming riders to launch what we hope will prove to be long and successful careers.” Series Director Stuart Higgs, concluded: “We’re proud that Motorpoint has extended its partnership with us for 2014. The calibre of riders and teams in this year’s Motorpoint British Supersport Championship remains at an all-time high and together with the extended television coverage and new Supersport EVO technical regulations we are tremendously excited about the upcoming season.” The opening round of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship takes place at Brands Hatch on 19/20/21 April.
