EGO CORSA AND CORTESE TO DELIGHT GERMAN FANS AT SACHSENRING

The last MotoGP™ event before the summer break takes place this weekend at the spectacular Sachsenring circuit, one of the most permanent fixtures of the world championship calendar. Looking to shine in front of the German crowd, the Ego Corsa will be involved in the traditional demo lap preceding the premier class race, and this time it will be home rider Sandro Cortese the one riding the track-ready, all-electric superbike machine by Energica.

DEVELOPMENT NEVER STOPS

The prototype of the 2019 Ego Corsa will be back in action this upcoming Thursday and Friday at the Sachsenring, for a couple of test sessions involving Energica’s test rider Alessandro Brannetti, Loris Capirossi and some updated settings for the bike.

The 28-year-old German rider from Ochsenhausen was crowned the first-ever Moto3 Champion back in 2012, seven years after his world class debut in 125cc when he was only 15 years old. This year, Cortese is competing in the FIM Supersport World Championship, where he is currently leading the standings with two wins and five podiums overall. In his championship-winning season, Cortese won in front of his home crowd and he is now looking forward to riding on this 3.7km-long unique and spectacular strip of asphalt located in the free state of Saxony.

“I’m really happy and pleased to be doing the demo lap at the Sachsenring,” says Sandro Cortese. “It’s a pleasure to be able to show this bike to my home crowd. I saw that many legends before me did it and when I got asked to do it, I was more than happy to accept. Because I switched to World Supersport last winter, this year is the first that I’m not racing at Sachsenring, so in a way it’s nice to at least get a lap around it once more. I’m looking forward to this experience and to trying the Ego Corsa!”

The demo lap for the German Grand Prix will get underway at 13:20 local time (GMT +2) on Sunday 15 July.
